ACLU-Action: Petition – Solidarity confinment on kids (Heinz Leitner)

In the past few months, tens of thousands of us called for an end to the solitary confinement of kids held in federal custody. We know that being held for days, months or years, deprived of almost all human contact is a cruel and dangerous practice, and doing it to our kids (some as young as 13) is simply inhuman.

But to get people to take notice, showing is better than telling, so we’ve made this powerful video to shine a spotlight on the impact of solitary on kids. It’s a visceral way to show your friends the harm being done to these children and help build momentum in this campaign.

Over 36,000 of us have already signed our petition calling for a ban on solitary confinement of kids in federal custody, which would set an important precedent for states to follow suit. Can you help us to get to 50,000 before we deliver the signatures to the attorney general’s office this week?

Watch this powerful video and share it with your friends to ask them to add their voice to this campaign.

Video: Hard to watch. Impossible to ignore.

Thanks for speaking out against this inhumane practice,
Anthony for the ACLU Action team

P.S. You have may heard the sad news about Herman Wallace, who died Friday after finally being released from 42 years in solitary confinement. We hope that he rests in peace, and that his story can help shed light on the thousands of others who continue to be subjected to extreme isolation.

Sign the petition to add your voice to the call for justice now and help us get to 50,000 signatures—to make sure that Holder can’t ignore this issue any longer.: https://www.aclu.org/bansolitary?ms=y…
