LGBT asylum seekers in the UK are being forced to „prove“ that they are gay in their application – even undergoing intrusive interviews about their sexual behavior. Aderonke is no exception. After much criticism, Home Secretary Teresa May announced on March 28th, 2014, that this system would be reviewed and reformed.
The UK asylum system needs to change, but Aderonke cannot wait until then. She has two weeks to prove that she would be persecuted and even killed in Nigeria because of her sexuality. We need the Home Office to grant her asylum now.
