media Refugeeprotest: Statement and excerpt of the speech on the „Umfairteilen“ demonstration

We Non-Citizens reached the DGB house and from first day on the DGB tried to evict us from this bulding, but they did not consider why we want to stay here and what are the reasons, why we are here. They are wasting their power, their efforts are going towards the wrong direction, which is to get us out of this building in coordinated way. The discussion started after some hours on the first day and in the following meetings the DGB chairman started to offer political deals and gave offers that the DGB will provide us a hotel or a camping place and also a bus which will give us save travel to the lagers where we are registerd. In the first meeting with DGB all offers were inaccaptable for us and brought up the question what is the political position of the DGB towards our demands.

On the second day the DGB started with a new offer to provide us five minutes for speech on the “Umfairteilen” demonstration and to organize a meeting with a politician when we would leave the building on Friday evening. We would all have to leave the bulding before and if we would not accept this offer, the DGB would close the bulding completely, so nobody could go out or in during the weekend. This actually happened.

Since then it is clear that the DGB does not try to express a clear position to support this struggle which is demanding the basic rights of Non-Citizens practically. We had expected the opposite of the DGB as the active union for the rights of the lowest class of society as it is is defined at least in words.

Why are we here and why we wanted to talk on the front of people?

We are here to get our basic rights for a human life, to get our freedom from these shameful laws which makes our life horrible every day. We wanted to come in front of the people and tell them these are the reasons to struggle and we believe that nobody has the right to stop any body else from speech. No matter the organizer of the “Umfairteilen” demonstration allows us to hold our speech or not, we are willing to do it based on this believe. The attempt to stop us from speaking is reproducing the structure which kept suppressed people silent over the whole human history. Of course we don’t accept such kind of behaviour from any high positioned person or group or state. We will continue to struggle against all racism, injustice and inhumanity.

According to this, one Non-Citizen held a speech at the „Umfairteilen“ demonstration. This is an excerpt of the short speech:

„We are Non Citizens. That means we do not have civil rights in this state. Daily we get threats of the authorities, in front of our camps we are threatened by racists like 20 years ago in Rostock and currently in Berlin-Hellersdorf, we are not allowed to move freely. We are damned in the camps. Our food is determined arbitrarily from the top. We are denied the right to work. Daily we live with the fear of deportation in a country which can not offer us a good a life. Our applications for asylum are intentionally delayed only to be denied in the end. Even the right for freedom of expression in the political demonstration for us is denied from the ministry of the interior. That is why we demand an immediate end of all deportations, recognition of our applications, abolition of the residence restrictions and the closing of the camps.“
