Reporters Without Borders / Reporter Ohne Grenzen:According to our barometer, 42 journalists, 5 citizen journalists, and 8 media workers have been killed so far this year (13.11.2017)

Dear Friend,

According to our barometer, 42 journalists, 5 citizen journalists, and 8 media workers have been killed so far this year in connection with their work. Journalists are still subjected to torture, kidnapping, and murder as they continue to speak truth to power.
In response to all these crimes, Reporters Without Borders and Freedom Voices Network launch Forbidden Stories. The goal of Forbidden Stories is to secure and continue the work of journalists around the world by completing the projects they were unable to publish due to intimidation, arrest, or threats to their life.

Here is a first video of Cecilio Pineda – a Mexican journalist who was killed because he was doing investigative reporting on drug cartels. 11 journalists have been murdered in Mexico in 2017.

The voices of journalists killed, threatened, and imprisoned will never be silent again.

Please donate to RSF today to develop this project and help us support those who put their lives at stake to keep us informed, no matter what.

Sincerely,

RSF Team
