Die alljährliche Kundgebung des Komitees "Freiheit für Mumia Abu-Jamal"*) hatte heuer am 9. Dezember eine besondere Bedeutung, weil die Staatsanwaltschaft Philadelphias am 7.12.2011 ihren Antrag auf Hinrichtung Mumia Abu-Jamals zurückgezogen hatte. Sie bestand aber darauf, Mumia lebenslang ohne Berufungsrecht einzusperren. Um so stärker forderten wir die Freiheit für unseren Genossen Mumia Abu-Jamal!

*) Im November 2011 benannten wir unser "Mumia-Solidaritäts"-Komitee in Komitee "Freiheit für Mumia Abu-Jamal" um. Dieser Gedanke lag uns schon seit Jahren nahe und die Entscheidung der Philadelphiaer Staaatsanwaltschaft bestärkt uns nochmals in diesem neuen - alten Komiteenamen!

Arnold Beverly is the murderer of Daniel Faulkner

Revolutionary and former Black Panther comrade Curley spoke on the meeting of the

"Labor Action Committee Free Mumia" on July 19th, 2011 (in the context of the Laborfest in

San Francisco) on the case Arnold Beverly. In his impulsive speech about his long years

of struggle against racism, the police state and solidarity for Mumia Abu Jamal Curley

expressed clearly that he is not only well known with Arnold Beverly but also he is

convinced, that Beverly is the murderer of the policeman Daniel Faulkner! As is well

known, a racialist court with bribed witnesses had sentenced Mumia Abu Jamal to death

as the "murderer" of Daniel Faulkner 1982. Robert R. Bryan, the second to

the last defender of Mumia Abu Jamal and also the present attornies of the defense,

Judith Ritter and Christina Swarns, assume that "confession" Arnold Beverlys cannot

be believed. Michael Schiffmann, leading activist of the Berlin "Committee Free Mumia",

agrees with this opinion, as he told it Karl Fischbacher (spokesman of the Committee

"Solidarity for Mumia Abu Jamal/Vienna") in the interview 2006 in Vienna.

Anlässlich des tragischen Vorfalls am 9.Dezember 1981 in

Philadephia (als Mumia Abu-Jamal der Mord an dem Polizisten

Daniel Faulkner angehängt wurde) unternahm das "Komitee

'Solidarität mit Mumia Abu-Jamal'/Wien" am 9.12.2010 eine

Solikundgebung auf der Mariahilfer Straße. Neben vielen

vorbeiströmenden Passantinnen erreichten wir mit unseren

Flugblättern etliche interessierte Menschen. Dieses Jahr

hatte die KJÖ einen Großteil der Organisierung der

Kundgebung übernommen..

Hallo,

am 14. Januar 2012 sprach Johanna Fernandez aus Mumias Verteidigungsteam

auf der Rosa-Luxemburg-Konferenz über die aktuelle Lage des politischen

Gefangenen. Sie erläuterte seine gegenwärtige Situation unter

Isolationshaft Bedingungen und legte den enormen Erfolg der Überwindung

der Todesstrafe gegen Mumia dar. Ausführlich ging sie dabei auch auf die

Situation von mehreren Hundertausend Gefangenen in den USA ein, die

unter der Folter der permanenten Isolation z.T. für viele Jahre

festgehalten werden.

Im zweiten Teil der Videoaufnahmen spricht Johanna Fernandez über die

aktuellen Planungen der Solidaritätsbewegung, um endlich Mumias

Freilassung nach über 30 Jahren Haft durchzusetzen. Sie geht dabei auch

auf Mobilisierungen für den kommenden April 2012 in den USA und der BRD

ein.

sentence unconstitutional—it is the second time the court has agreed with a lower judge

who set aside Abu-Jamal's death sentence after finding jurors were given confusing

instructions that encouraged them to choose death rather than a life sentence. Now

Abu-Jamal, a former Black Panther and journalist, could get a new sentencing hearing

in court. Democracy Now! interviews Abu-Jamal's co-counsel, Judith Ritter, and

Linn Washington, an award-winning journalist with the Philadelphia Tribune who

has followed Abu-Jamal's case for almost three decades.

(Harlem, NYC) Mumia Abu-Jamal's legal defense gained strength a

couple of weeks ago, when the NAACP Legal Defense Fund (LDF)

officially joined his defense. Although lawyers of the LDF have

been members of the team for several years already they now

take on the leading role in the legal struggle to free Mumia Abu-Jamal.

On April 3 the newly formed defense team presented themselves

to an audience of 150 in Riverside Church in New York.

Es kommen neben Mumia selbst auch eine Sprecherin von Amnesty und viele Einzelpersonen zu Wort. Auch eine Free Mumia Demo in Washington DC ist zu sehen.
